Palin Draws First Major Dem Challenger for 2010 Race

@ 2:24 pm by Michael O'Brien

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has drawn her first Democratic challenger in a potential reelection bid in 2010, a hurdle the former vice presidential nominee may need to clear before pursuing national ambitions.

Democrat Bob Poe, the former Alaska State Commissioner of Administration and former CEO of Anchorage Economic Development Corporation, said Wednesday he will announce tomorrow that he intends to seek the Democratic nomination for governor of Alaska.

Poe is viewed as a serious, viable candidate by state Democrats, though there are some other candidates that could derail Poe's bid to unseat Palin. Poe lacks statewide name recognition unlike a candidate such as Ethan Berkowitz, the Democrat who came close to defeating Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) this past November.

It is expected, though, that Poe would run a centrist, pragmatic campaign as an alternative to Palin.

Democrats feel that Palin's vice presidential run brought to light more negative information about the governor than Alaskans had previously encountered, opening the door for a successful Democratic challenge. Still, they acknowledge that Palin's still-unknown political ambitions on a national level are a key variable in the race.

Poe will announce his run Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Alaska time at Anchorage's Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center.

  1. Thank god he announced he will announce something. Otherwise we may not be able to take the surprise of the actual announcement.

  2. Sarah Palin represents the worst of politics and humanity. She simply believes that govt is about misusing power to help your friends and abusing power to punish your enemies. She has tunnel vision in this regard and that's why every thing this woman touches turns to stone. She doesn't have a conscience, she doesn't have a moral bone in her body.

  3. Davefromqueens,
Sarah Palin does represent the worst of humanity because she did not want to abort her retarded child. She is so inhuman.

Also, Palin is much more corrupt than Blago (D), Sheila Dixon (D), Spitzer (D), William Jefferson (D), Edwin Edwards (D), Rangel (D), Dodd, Frank (D), Pelosi (D), Kennedy (the one who killed that girl) (D), Conrad (D), Richarson (D), Henry Cisneros (D), Ernest Newton (D), Clarence Norman Jr. (D), Jim Black (D), Glen Dale "Hound Dog" Adkins (D), Donald Siegelman (D), Frank Ballance (D), Chuck Chvala (D), Brett Pfeffer (D), Raymond Reggie (D)………………..there are so many more far less corrupt politicians than the evil and truly diabolical Sarah Palin!!!!!!!!!

  4. Raygun —You sound like a naive' offspring of Sarah Palin, uneducated, backwoodsey, tunnel vision, etc. Of course there are corrupt individuals in both parties, and how like a Republican to point the fingers elsewhere when one of their own is exposed. The list of corrupt Republican politicians is far too long to list here. The difference is, when we get a nasty one in the bunch, we pluck him out (impeach), unlike yours who persist and stay (Mark Foley, Tom DeLay, David Vitter, Ted Stevens, Larry Craig, etc. etc.) At the head of the list are your very own lame-duck George Bush and his handler, Dick Cheney. I hope you've been keeping up with the rest of the extremely long list of corrupt/depraved/pedophile/greedy/torturing "brothers" in your party, many of whom have helped to bring your party's reign to a screeching halt in 2006 and 2008. Now maybe you should take that "passion" of yours and do something constructive for your country … like buck up, swallow your pride and offer to get behind this new president who has ONE HELL OF A MESS TO CLEAN UP after George Bush. Hurricane Katrina was NOTHING compared to the REST OF THE DESTRUCTION TO THE U.S. IN TERMS OF ECONOMY, RESPECT, STANDING IN THE WORLD ARENA, RIGHTS UNDER THE CONSTITUTION ERODING BY THE MINUTE UNDER BUSH, ETC. Like a doctor's oath "First, do no harm …." …… LOVE YOUR COUNTRY FIRST, CHILD.

  5. Palin did not want to abort a retarded child which her daughter later delivered.

But it is above amazing to see the followers of another poor choice GOP politician. That seems to be the litmus test 'noncompetece' the more they have the more the Pugs want them.

  6. "which her daughter later delivered"

Still on that diatribe Cheryl? I can recommend a good psychiatrist.

It's people like you that would make the face of Joseph Goebbels' light up with joy if he wasn't a blackened crisp in hell. Obviously you were one of those who helped elect the most mendacious and unqualified opportunist in history to the Presidency. Enjoy the next four years witch.

  7. My apologies for the above. That should have been addressed to Cole, not Cheryl. Not that there's a lick of difference.

  8. Bottom line on sarah heath palin is that she could not pass a 3rd grade civics test, and still she aspires to be president of the United States !

Now, if she really loved her country so very much, would she truly endeavor to put an uninformed, and therefore unqualified, person (herself) a the helm.

Of course not…..Unless her pathological narcissism affected her "judgement".

This strutting, preening, priggish, wildly gesticulating SHRIKE is not qualified to be a kindergarten teacher, much less president of the
    USA.

And if you talk radio fools don't like the above….well, try sitting on it !

  9. Does that mean liberals like to abort Special Needs babies?
