Franken narrows Coleman lead in Recount

@ 5:04 pm by Hill Staff

Democrat Al Franken has picked up an additional six votes in the recount for Minnesota's Senate race, leaving incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman (R) with a 168-vote lead in the race.

Each candidate gained votes Thursday, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported, with Franken gaining 19 votes to Coleman's 13 votes. Wednesday's tally, the first day of the recount, saw a 41-vote swing toward Franken.

399 ballots combined have been challenged by the campaigns.

Areas that had more heavily favored Franken in the general election are reporting recount tallies earlier than Coleman-leaning districts, leaving hope the Republican Senator may halt his eroding margin in the race.

  1. Just when the rest of the country stops laughing at Minn. about Jesse Ventura, the voters do something like this………….

  2. The dim-wit-craps will stop the recount when they find enough frankin votes for al to 'win'. They will not stop until that happens. Maybe we could send jimmy carter to make sure the recount is fair? Voter fraud stinks.

  4. Democrats may will rue the day they were given the chance to handle this situation (economy and other ways).

The Dems are not totally bad and the Republics not totally good; however, this rotten crew of Demolition faux politicians was rewarded and not punished. The record of their Congress since 2006 (and long before that) has proven woefully baneful.

Giving them 60 votes in the Senate would be a national abomination.

  5. America is on the verge of another Depression, Iran is close to nuclear weapons, Russia is Resurgent, Our education system needs reform. Thank goodness that the people of Minnesota have the great wisdom and good sense to send us a great man who will help solve these problems. Yes they are on the verge of sending us……al franken

  6. Ventura was over along time ago, not as suggested. Very few outside of state will know or remember. Recounts are an American as apple pie and shows how true we are to every vote.

Your boy Obama is starting to take up some of the Bush positions on repairing the market. Flip flopping from tax increases to not doing anything and possibly looking at extending the Bush tax cuts. Lets see if Obama brings our troops home. Can you say strategic troop realignment. Our troop, and other coalition forces will stay in the middle east as long as there is a threat to the west, "Free Global Community." Your boy's an empty suite.
Jay in a year your going to wish Mrs. Clinton had won.
Oh, by the way Jay don't bother posting a reply.
