Lifetime Poll: McCain/Palin Understand Women Better

@ 5:31 pm by Chris Good

John McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) understand women better than their Democratic counterparts, according to women polled in a nationwide survey by women's TV network Lifetime.

McCain and Palin hold a 44 percent to 42 percent advantage over Barack Obama and Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) when it comes to who understands women and what is important to women, the Lifetime poll found. The poll was conducted Sept. 11 to 15 by the polling company and Lake Research Partners and was released today by Lifetime.

That marks vast gains by the GOP since Lifetime's last poll in late July, when Obama led McCain 52 percent to 18 percent on the same question.

The 44 percent to 42 percent advantage for McCain/Palin puts them in a statistical dead heat with Obama/Biden, as the poll of 534 women had a +/- 4.4 margin of error.

McCain has trailed Obama among women consistently throughout the campaign, though some polls suggest that margin is narrowing since McCain's slection of Palin as the GOP's vice presidential candidate. Lifetime's survey gave Obama a two percentage point advantage–47 percent to 45 percent–among women nationwide.

  1. Most women who are Lifetime viewers tend to be 'victims'. I am a 63 year old white women and this is my opinion. I have found the Lifetime movies over the years to show women of the 'victim' mentality; and wanting everything both ways. If Lifetime viewers in the majority think that John McCain and his VP pick understand women, I guess I know why their programming never appealed to me.
