SUNDAY ROUNDUP

@ 6:12 pm by Chris Good

Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) is taking the right approach in going on the offensive against Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), liberal bloggers declare, while John McCain’s new lead in national polls proves Palin was the right pick for VP, conservatives decide.

Biden has landed a blow in questioning Palin's experience, AMERICABLOG’S John Aravosis claims after the Democratic vice presidential nominee suggested on "Meet the Press" that Palin would "eventually" have to answer questions from the media. It’s good to see Barack Obama's campaign going after Palin, Jonathan Singer muses: Biden’s is the latest in a wave of attacks on the governor from team Obama, in Singer's opinion.

The Treasury Department's takeover of mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, meanwhile, is one of the most important developments in financial markets of the last 30 years, Hale "Bonddad" Stewart proclaims at The Huffington Post. It reveals that the U.S. economy is weak and Secretary Treasury Henry Paulson wants to see things don't get out of hand, Stewart argues. But the takeover was done much more calmly than the Bear Stearns bailout, RedState's Blackhedd contends, noting that it was facilitated by Congress's housing bill that President Bush signed in late July.

McCain has taken the lead in the first poll to fully reflect Palin's impact on national opinion, Hot Air’s Allahpundit proclaims, noting McCain's three-percent lead in today's Gallup tracking poll. McCain's four-percent lead in Zogby's latest survey is also encouraging, Ann Althouse says, pointing out that Palin has helped McCain more among men than women.
