Rep. King: Obama's Background Not Patriotic

@ 1:11 pm by Chris Good

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) questioned the patriotism of Barack Obama's upbringing yesterday, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier.

"There is no part of that that I would subject a child, a young man or woman to. I don’t think that there’s a nurture there that shows a thread of patriotism or a sense of appreciation of free market capitalism or the destiny of America or what has made this country great," King said, according to the Courier.

Obama, as has been noted throughout the campaign, was born in Hawaii to a mother from Kansas and a father from Kenya. After his father left, Obama "grew up with his mother in Hawaii, and for a few years in Indonesia. Later, he moved to New York, where he graduated from Columbia University in 1983," as described by the Obama campaign's website.

The Hill welcomes comment from anyone and will almost always post it whether it is favorable or critical, as long as it is substantive and advances debate.
  1. One thing we can count on is that small time politicians like King will always let slip what the McCain camp wants to, but can't say themselves. Were we supposed to think that "Country First" as a slogan meant anything except what King said?

The McCain campaign is nothing but Nobama. It's not a strategy that will hold up to two more months of campaigning.

  2. Everything about the Obama that I have heard/read or seen shows nothing but distain for the country and those that have been successful. He has nothing to give except what he can take from people that have something (middle class and rich) and give it to somebody that only wants a handout.

  3. Obama is articulate, well spoken, intelligent but above all extremely naive. He needed the help of a convicted felon to help him achieve what most americans achieve on their own through hard work… owning a home. He did what most selfish folks want and bought more than he could afford on his own credit worthiness and income and now he wants to pass that privilege on to whom he calls the 'underprivileged' which is exactly what he thinks he and his wife are. He is no success story of hard work and achievement. He has worked his way up through the ranks not by working in the trenches but by shouting from the rooftops, whom others have built. This man is deceiving the gullible, all you have to do is look at his mentors, Ayers, Jeremiah Wrong and others to know the mindset of the man. America will survive his presidential term should he win, not because of him but because of the resolve of those who created a system whereby he can achieve what he has achieved. Its not his work that got him to where he is today. It has been the work of patriots who love the country and sacrifice themselves for the country.

  5. After the Democratic convention the American flags that all the delegates were waving on TV were thrown into the dumpster. This is exactly what the Democrats think of our country.
I was raised to respect the flag and treat it with
respect. What the hell is wrong with you people? How dare you! People have given their lives fighting for their country so that all people can express their freedom publicly. Now their love of country is thrown into the dumpster because they have used what part of it they needed at the moment.Remember you jerks that someone,s son or daughter died and were buried under this symbol of righteousness and freedom. You bastards suck!\
Wearing the flag on your lapel is acknowleging and showing respect for those that made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. It was never meant to be thrown in the trash. Thanks Obama you jerk!

showing gratitude for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

  6. I would only like to understand that why CNN or NYT has not sent Correspondents to Hawaii, Kenya and Indonesia to make good assessment towards deeper understanding on Barack Obama's background.

They were very quick and prompt to make fun and take dig on Sarah Palin.

It is high time press and media be neutral. America is in a cusp of Election and having the right leader is very critical thus unbiased information is critical. Barack Obama's past background needs to researched and the unnecessary stories need to be put to rest.

    Warm Regards
