DAY'S END ROUNDUP

@ 5:49 pm by Andy Barr

Howard Wolfson, the former communications director to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), claiming that Clinton would have won the Iowa caucus if John Edwards’s affair had been outed sooner has many bloggers mocking the longtime Clinton aide. Liberal bloggers are accusing John McCain of lifting a passage from Wikipedia and some speculate that former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge’s (R) stock is rising as McCain’s potential running mate.

The Clinton camp has many understandable gripes about the campaign, but complaining that smooth talking southern politician covering up the fact that he cheated on his wife isn’t one of them, The Corner's Jonah Goldberg writes. Open Left's Chris Bowers points out that, hypocrisy aside, the polling doesn’t back up Wolfson's claim that Edwards played spoiler to Clinton.

Several passages from McCain’s speech on Georgia Monday bear a striking resemblance to the Wikipedia entry on the country, Taegan Goddard reports. Firedoglake's emptywheel blasts McCain for allegedly lifting the passage, writing that it takes "someone both lazy and stupid to steal from Wikipedia."

And McCain and Ridge will spend the next two days together campaigning through Pennsylvania intensifying the focus on Ridge as McCain’s potential veep, The Trail writes. Political Radar thinks the buzz around the two day stint may be overblown, pointing out that Ridge appearing with McCain in his home state is not outside the norm.
