S.C. Republican Posts Picture Calling Difference Between Obama and Bin Laden 'Just a Little B.S.'

@ 2:16 pm by Andy Barr

South Carolina Republican state Senator Kevin Bryant has posted a picture of a t-shirt on his blog that reads "the difference between Obama and Osama is just a little b.s."

No text accompanies the picture, which was posted July 18, but the post is by far the most commented on entry on the lawmaker's blog.

Bryant attacks Obama in several other posts and also links to story claiming that the Illinois senator raises funds for Islamic causes.

UPDATE: Bryant tells The Huffington Post's Nico Pitney that the picture was "meant tongue in cheek."

"I've got some questions about Senator Obama's ties to — such as his comment that we should negotiate with Iran. Iran's a country that would like to destroy Israel, that bothers me. But is this picture appropriate? I don't know," Bryant said.

"You know, blogs are for satire and whatnot and, um, that's why it's up. It's similar to the New Yorker picture. Maybe that's why this has gotten so much attention, because of that thing that came out a couple days ago."

Asked what religion Obama practices, Bryant said, "That's a good question. I don't know."

The Hill welcomes comment from anyone and will almost always post it whether it is favorable or critical, as long as it is substantive and advances debate.
  1. It is nonsense like this that makes this Republican want to run and hide.

  2. If this came from an illiterate southern hillbilly I wouldn't be surprised but coming from a Senator makes me wonder about the quality and intelligence of the people we as American elect to serve us. This country is full of vibrant and intelligent people but unfortunately we are mainly represented by the idiotic cowboys who I truly believed skipped too many of their required college courses.

  3. A blog entry above this one is about his home schooling his children.

One has to question exactly what kind of education those children are receiving at his home.

Nothing like re-enforcing those ol' southern stereotypes.

Please tell me this clown is up for re-election and there is an opponent running against him that displays much better judgement. (That defense of the blog entry was so much gibberish.)

  4. The uproar from the citizens of South Carolina should be so deafening the entire nation should have to wear ear plugs. This is just one of the reasons why good Republicans are leaving their party.

  7. The Democrat running against this guy is Marshall Meadors. You can donate to him at http://www.meadorsforstatesenate.org/donate.html. I met him at a recent event and he was a really nice guy. We should really step up to support him and kick this bonehead out of the SC Senate. In this same district, Jane Dyer is running for US Congress as the Dem opponent of Gresham Barrett and needs your support as well. Her website is janedyerforcongress.com.
