Giuliani: Obama Capturing 'an Anti-American Feeling'

@ 12:32 pm by Andy Barr

Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R-N.Y.) said Thursday that Barack Obama is capturing 'an anti-American feeling' responding to Obama telling a town hall audience in Georgia that their children should learn to speak Spanish.

"Well this is why he is a popular candidate in Europe, because there is such an anti-American feeling and he is sort of capturing that," Giuliani said on MSNBC.

Giuliani said he was not as troubled by Obama's suggestion that children learn Spanish as the assumption that immigrant families are learning English.

"It makes sense to teach your children another language," Giuliani said. But, Giuliani added, "the reality is that this is a country that should speak English…and if we can learn an extra language or two that would be terrific."

The former New York City Mayor said Obama is "sliding over" the need for immigrant families to learn English by "making an assumption that isn't true, that all immigrants are learning English. They're not."

  1. Rudy's right. Obama hates the U.S. as it currently exists. He wants to live in a country that is bi-lingual, bi-sexual, anti-gun, pro-illegal immigration and anti-business. He should be running for President of Cuba.

    Comment by Austin Hardy — July 10, 2008 @ 12:57 pm

  2. Bottom line is that English should be the official language of America, just like french is official language of France, Spanish for Spain and Mexico. These countries do not cater to one specific group like we do with Spanish documents.

    Comment by Aaron — July 10, 2008 @ 1:00 pm

  3. The real question is, why did Obama suggest Spanish and Spanish only.

There is nothing wrong with learning a second language. In fact, everyone agrees that the ability to speak different languages enrich our lives.

However, the reason Obama singled out Spanish is transparent. He is merely playing the typical political game of pandering to a specific voting block.

If he were talking to German Americans, he probably would have said German.

    Comment by Grant — July 10, 2008 @ 1:00 pm

  4. Rudy…Captain 9/11. That's just moronic. Obama is anti American because he wants to improve the country? 9/11… Flag Pin… Reverand Wright … Rudy and Co. can't stand on the same stage with Obama when it comes to understanding how to return the United States to the most respected nation in the world. The only thing they have is fear mongering, catch phrases, and soundbytes.

    Comment by ted — July 10, 2008 @ 1:01 pm

  5. This country was built on English Rule, and it shall stay that way. My forefathers had to learn English and many others. Why should we switch it now? Because We're being invaded from the South? I think not.

    Comment by John — July 10, 2008 @ 1:01 pm

  6. Well Austin, this country is not working the way its currently being run. So in order for things to change, a different approach must be taken.

Further, I am not sure how offering small businesses tax breaks is "anti-business." In my mind, offering corps like BP (who mind you, posted 1Q profits of 16B…in a quarter!) tax breaks is anti-business.

Further, Rudy never stated that Obama hates America.

Wake up! Its 2008 buddy…not 1945. This IS a global world…and if the U.S. wants to lead this world, we must be a global country.

    Comment by Zach — July 10, 2008 @ 1:05 pm

  7. How dare Obama suggest that children learn something useful. This is America! We can be as stupid as we want to be!

    Comment by Ryan — July 10, 2008 @ 1:07 pm

  8. One last thing. He never states we should all speak Spanish instead of English. He's simply pointing out that our country is becoming even more of a melting pot.

Did anyone even see what Obama said? Lord.

  9. Ted, you have drunk way too much kool-aid!

    Comment by IhateObama — July 10, 2008 @ 1:08 pm

  10. Yeah. After Spanish maybe Americans can learn the other 400 languages spoken by immigrants.

Ooooooooooor, the immigrants - who chose to live here - could learn one.

    English!

I hate to throw common sense in your face….but, that's how I roll.

    Comment by JP — July 10, 2008 @ 1:09 pm

  11. Firewall Florida. That basically sums up Rudys judgment and ability to analyze a situation. He's a non-entity and his opinions are meaningless. We need an articulate, moderate president like Obama to be able explain to the world why the Unites States is the greatest country on Earth. Bush is a monosyllabic and can't string two sentences together. No wonder the rest of the world misunderstands our motives. McCain is too, part of the past, delusional and dangerous and he's not going to be POTUS.
    Go OBAMA 08!

  12. Learn spanish to be more communicable.
Plenty of jobs now-a-days require bilingual (eng-span) employees.

    Comment by Daniel — July 10, 2008 @ 1:10 pm

  13. @Zach

How about you do some research and learn how and why we're becoming a global country. Its called we're being sold out. We barely make our own product's, foreigners are buying our buildings, roads, and company's. I don't consider that American or Global, I consider that being Sold. Language has nothing to do with any of it, think of how they did it 100 years ago with trade.

    Comment by John — July 10, 2008 @ 1:10 pm

  14. Zach,

    You said this:

"Well Austin, this country is not working the way its currently being run. So in order for things to change, a different approach must be taken."

A different approach??? Obama = Even more government! Why would we want that?

Also, you are delusional if you believe taxes on any person in this country will go down.

    Comment by patrick — July 10, 2008 @ 1:11 pm

  15. So I guess my learning French back in High school was a waste of time. Perhaps they should offer Spanish only? Of course they could do English only and make Spanish an option so that people can decide what would be best for them. Hey wait, that's what they do already. I guess just not in Obama-land where it will cost a fortune in tax payer money to convert docs to Spanish as well as English. As for Ted and his "captain Rudy" comments, buddy, he did a lot more for NY than just showing leadership on 9/11. He inhereted a cesspool fron Democrat Dinkings and turned both the economy and the crime structure around completely. What exactly did Obama do for Illinois or Cook County? Can you say EL ZIPPO!!!!

Is it the American workers or is it the Republican CEOs and owners looking to make a quick buck and looking for cheap labor so that they can expand their bottom lines! I swear, most of you GENIUS' don't know your ass from a hole in the wall, but you swear out you know who would be the best leader for this country. I guess you thought George W. 29. Learn no other language; close our borders, society, culture off from the rest of the world. Let's build a 360 degree wall from sea to shining sea. Stupid isolationists. 30. If being a good American is spending the last 7 years exploiting and profiting off one of country's greatest tragedies then Rudy is the greatest American ever.

As a resident of NYC I believe Rudy is a worthless facist.

    Comment by brad — July 10, 2008 @ 1:22 pm

  31. Okay, first of all, raising the Corporate Tax to 50%…which Obama wants to do…is anti-business. Corporations will no longer be able to do business in this Country; they will go to other countries with a more inviting corporate policy; and, in turn, will cut jobs currently held by the "little guy" that Obama supposedly champions for. That isn't just anti-business, it is economic stupidity.

Now back to the actual content of Obama's words, so Zach can feel like a moron by saying "did anyone 'see' what Obama said?"…The part that makes many feel that Obama dislikes this country was when he said we look like fools going over to Europe when we can't speak their language, but when Europeans come here they can speak English. I don't know about you, but I have run into many-a-Frenchman in my day that came here as tourists and couldn't speak a lick of English. It's his degrading of average Americans that makes us wonder how he truly feels about this Country and what it stands for.

Also, for that genius ted, fear-mongering is a catch phrase used by the Left. You put down people for using catch-phrases by doing the same thing. That is not a great way to make your argument….

    Comment by Chris — July 10, 2008 @ 1:23 pm

  35. Yes Obamba is a moderate. Compared to Hannity, Limbaugh, Ingraham, Boortz, and the whole right wing crowd that so dominates the Republican Party, including McCain, Bush, and the enabler of both, Karl Rove- Obama is certainly a moderate progressive in politics. The trouble with much of the Republican crowd is that they want no government, and if they can't have that, then ineffective government. The country had a name for another party that behaved and believed the same way about 150 years ago- they were called it the Know Nothing Party, a fitting name for the present day Republican Party.

Name me one prominent person in the Republican Party that is on fire about effective government for the people, and give me a quote to substantiate it.

he specifically mentioned spanish because he is trying desperately to corner the hispanic vote–i agree with the person who posted this idea before.
he did not talk about being multi-lingual in a general sense…he singles out that "our children should learn spanish? why didnt he say russian? or farsi? or german? or…any number of other languages spoken here by large groups of immigrants.
OH and BY THE WAY…OBAMA speaks

These mouth-breathing cretins have no understanding of history, political science, current events, or how the geopolitical chess game is played and why. Every time this Marxist moron opens his mouth he sticks his foot in it. McCain should exploit these monumental gaffes more than he is…it's McCain's race to lose.

  43. Rudy's a provincial windbag. The only anti-American sentiment Obama is attracting is against some of the Americans Rudy represents. Rudy doesn't give a rat's ass about the rest of us. That's why he's a marginal figure in today's world. He milked fear and the "guilt of the living" as long as he could get away with it. It wouldn't hurt any of us to learn more than one language, including Rudy. At the very least, it wards off dementia in those of Rudy's age bracket. But then again, it looks like it's started.

    Comment by Hunter Gatherer — July 10, 2008 @ 1:30 pm

  44. No one spun Barack H. Obama's words, he spoke them plainly and clearly. We the people should learn to speak Spanish as an English only society is wrong. We should embrace diversity to its fullest extent and conduct hearings in congress in all known languages as well as mandate that all ballots be printed in all known languages present and past so as not to leave anyone out. The bureaucratic pinheads in our government are selling us down the road, they are the elite who know what is best for us, we are just too stupid to know it. Remember this when you listen to the Messiah, Barack, who cannot speak Spanish At least the current Republicrat President can), you are probably missing the full context because of your public school education and limited cranial capacity.

I'm assuming the same fools that voted for this INEPT President, the KNOW NOTHING PARTY is a perfect title for the Republican party, or the BIG OIL PARTY, or the COWBOYS (whom I hate), LOL. This President is responsible for the HIGH oil prices, hell, I can't believe George W. Bush actually attacked Bill Clinton for the high oil prices back in 2000, that's when it was only $26 a barrel, now it's $140+ and you fools think Republicans are for the working man; you have to be kidding me!?

    Comment by tiger2471 — July 10, 2008 @ 1:31 pm

  46. Andrea Mitchell says that learning a languange "is a core requirement of schools." Actually, the "requirement" varies by state. For example, here in Virginia the requirement is that schools OFFER two years of foreign language (most counties do offer more than that, but not all do). I am sure Mr. Obama, Mr. Guiliani, Mr. McCain & Ms. Mitchell would generally agree that (a) two years = better than nothing, but (b) two years does not give you the depth to transact businesss at a high level. Finally, Mr. Obama could not significantly change our entire nation's ability to transact in more languages in a mere eight years. For more multilingual skills, we would generally need a 20 year push (i.e., an entire generation). As such, the more pressing issue of improving our accounting language skills should be embraced by Democrats in a business-friendly manner. Just like waiting for Bubba Junior to learn Chinese, don't hold your breath on Democrats getting too friendly with corporate America. What is transparent is that Obama plays up the "America is wrongful actor" theme on various levels to keep his liberal base happy, and when he does it skillfully, the victimolodgical rhetoric also allows him to lean towards certain groups and try to capture emotive voters that respond well to that kind of engagement. And then, some Americans cringe at the unthinking nature of it all… Guess we are waiting on November to find out how well it works.

Second, It only seems fair for us to at least be able to understand what they (those who understand Spanish only) are trying to say, and then also be able to tell them to "go home" and how to get there in a language they can understand.

    4. Support the President, event though he's willing to sacrifice American soldiers for a failed ideology.
    5. When in doubt, shout 9/11 and wave a flag.

  52. Peter777: Give me one prominent member of the Republican Party who is on fire about effective Government (which is an oxymoron…kinda like Jumbo Shrimp…just doesn't make sense) for the people?

Mitt Romney summed it up fairly well when he said:
"The threat to our culture comes from within. The 1960's welfare programs created a culture of poverty. Some think we won that battle when we reformed welfare, but the liberals haven't given up. At every turn, they try to substitute government largesse for individual responsibility. They fight to strip work requirements from welfare, to put more people on Medicaid, and to remove more and more people from having to pay any income tax whatsoever. Dependency is death to initiative, risk-taking and opportunity. Dependency is a culture-killing drug. We have got to fight it like the poison it is."

This looks like a pretty good argument against "effective government for the people" by a prominent Republican…

…patiently awaiting the anti-Right wing comments that will be coming my way…

    Comment by Chris — July 10, 2008 @ 1:34 pm

  53. It would be great for all of us to learn another language, but our first priority should be to have immigrants learn our country's major language, which is English!
And for all of you who so desperately want change from Obama–you will get it! Our wonderful, free country will become socialist. We're already on the way. He will be the modern Robin Hood, taking from those who have made a good living for themselves and forcing them to give it to those who have less. If people want to help others, they should. It is the right thing to do. But to be forced to do it by the government is wrong. And socialist. But, guess what? You can be sure that Obama, and those who think like him, will still be able to afford anything they want and won't be giving of their substance to the poor. That is also how it is in socialist countries.
    Wake up, people!

  54. I dont think it is just rumor or heresay….I do believe that Obama will ruin our military morale, and demoralize young people from volunteering for service because of his stand and comments about the Iraq war and its servicemen. So wake up young college age voters..Obama may just be the first pres in decades to reinstate the draft. we always need a military, and if young men and women feel they were disrespected while in uniform…that sentiment will spead ad we will no longer have a volunteer army. so when you cast you vote as a obama-maniac..picture yourself being drafted in a year or two…
oh, and of course obama would want to make sure the army is as diverse as can be..and not just enlisted men and women of a certain economic background or race who needed the military-i am sure obama and rev wright have discussed that sons and daughters of "rich whites in america" dont often seem to serve
…wake up you college kids…you will likely be heading to boot camp sooner than later under an obama pres.

And apparently many of you are mis educated, its not that republicans are for no government, its for a limited government republic for personal responcability. I am astounded by the inane name calling by the Wrong Wing, especially as it just undermines their cause with anyone with half a brain. (Yeah, and Obama is also a "Marxist." I wish….)

  70. This country has been indoctrinated by the guilt and self-loathing that the left claims should define it. I myself am trilingual, and I welcome immigration reform that would offer some rights to undocumented immigrants (such as a guest worker program), but to me, the issue goes beyond that of whether or not our children should be learning a second language in school. I have no objection to mandatory Spanish classes (languages are, after all, useful skills and learning them builds character), but I also have no objection to declaring English our official language and requiring that those who work here learn it.

The issue as I see it has nothing to do with language and everything to do with the fact that we are being charmed and guilt-tripped into electing a hand grenade disguised as a sunflower, and I fear that our own self loathing will produce an administration that is more racist, exclusive, socialist, anti-Semitic, and apologetic to those who would weaken us than any we have seen. At least we knew what we were getting when we re-elected George W. Bush. Obama, on the other hand, presents a risk that we can ill afford to take. Hamas likes him. The European socialist left likes him. Louis Farrakhan likes him. This should tell us something about what he really represents–not what he merely says he represents.

  72. What a load of B.S. Studies show that latin american immigrants (legal and illegal) are assimilating as fast or faster than prior groups of immigrants. The concerns expressed by Giuliani are wrong, the guy needs to get his facts straight. I agree that we have too many people illegally crossing the border, but assimilation is not really the issue (Supermarkets in LA have had all their signs in spanish for decades, so the culture shock really isn't all that novel a concept.) Also, the feeling from Europe is not "Anti-American", it's excitement that America may be returning to it's core values… you know stuff like respect for the individual, respect for sovereignty, and public discourse that's not built on convincing the American public that distortions and lies are truth. I would not want their society, but many europeans want a role in world affairs, and look to America to maintain its moral authority - and the Bush administration told them to pound salt. The dis-illusionment is substantial, and they just want to be able to look up to America again (yeah, I know, europeans have always pretended to be superior, but in truth it generally hid an admiration for America. Kind of like having an older brother who rags on you but knows you're something special.) The sad thing is, I'm an (ex?)Republican and arguing the other side. Neither party really seems to have a clue on most topics. I respect McCain, but I've read Obama's books, listened to him speak, and studied his accomplishments, and I think he's the superior choice in 2008.

Listen — it doesn't matter who is president, or which party. Either party is happy beyond belief to have all of you at each other's throats. Because while we're tearing away at each other they're robbing the piggy bank stuffed with our tax dollars.

This election cycle is even better than ever. They didn't have to roll out the tired topics of abortion, gun control, or anything. Heck, we offered up immigration, linguistic eminent domain, and a host of other piddly nonsense topics.

Bottom line: politicians are supposed to do a term or two in office as a service to us. Yeah, I said us, and then return to private life, and whatever career they'd left behind. Do any of you think that people fight to remain in the Congress or Senate because of a compelling love of country? Get real. Sometime take a moment to stop attacking one another to do a little investigative work on how many people in Congress enter Congress broke, and exit as multimillionaires. You're going to be surprised.
Heck, let's make it easy; check out Tom Daschle, and by the way, there are many more Democrats that are millionaires, and became millionaires while in office than Republicans. Who'd have thought?

Now get off each others case, and put some of that energy into something positive.

  86. The Democrat's Un-Vetted Nominee.
. A disturbing insight into Barack Obama’s psychological makeup is revealed in three of Obama’s recent comments: (1) Speaking to the student body at Dartmouth - “A light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany, and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Barack.”; (2) Speaking after a primary victory - “This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.” ; and, (3) Responding in an interview as to the definition of sin, he responded -”Being out of alignment with MY values.” ASTOUNDING.
Obama’s commentary clearly identifies him as possessing a dangerously narcissistic personality. He unquestionably has a mental disorder characterized by an extreme sense of his own importance, which readily explains the context of his San Francisco comments where he belittled those living in “small town” America who he clearly perceived as inferior to his self- constructed status of superiority.
Obama’s admitted heavy marijuana and cocaine use in high school and college may well have played a decisive role in the development of Obama’s inflated sense of his own importance; and, his pretentious demeanor. Heavy drug use can lead to hallucinations concerning ones status of grandiosity. Another clue is Obama’s frequent confused and unintelligible babblings whenever he is subjected to a public forum where he is devoid of a prepared text by his handlers to read from; which is the reason that Obama's controllers will resist any attempt to have their candidate exposed to town-hall style forums.
Unequivocally, this man, who has exhibited a profound lack of common-sense, should never be allowed anywhere near the Oval Office. Greg Neubeck

I understand that there are millions of Spanish speaking immigrants in this nation, but that does not give you the right to "demand" that we should be bilingual. While it should be encouraged as Senator Obama stated, it should NOT be mandated. American was founded in English as Mexico (and other nations) were founded on their language. You come to America to live (legally), you should learn English. In no other country is there a "demand" to speak the language of the immagrant. If you love this country and desire the opportunities it provides, then learn the language of the country.

Again–and I'm only tooting my horn because I'm anonymous here–I'm trilingual (English, Chinese, Spanish), am well-educated, have a fantastic job and more money than I know what to do with, fully support immigrants' rights and semi-mandatory second-language courses for children, but I don't agree with Obama's premise. As others have attested, if you want to work in France, you need to speak French. If you want to work in Italy, you should know Italian. Why should the same not apply here? Also, this is one small issue–and I think that Giuliani is actually wrong here. It's the big picture that's so troubling with Obama (see previous post).

But the modern left is all about our differences: African-American, Asian-American, Latin-American, rich, poor, white, black, male, female. What part of this is confusing: A nation divided cannot stand?

As an immigrant who arrived some thirty ears ago in this beautiful country of my dreams, I think that it's very important to require all immigrants to learn about culture of this country, and how to communicate in English, before citizenship is granted. Such as it was for me before I became US citizen 19 years ago. Today, in addition to my native tong, I'm fluent in Spanish, which I picked up by my own choice, and Russian that I was required to learn while living behind an “iron curtain”. In this land of liberty, I still cherish freedom of choice (hopefully till my death), and don’t want my government to tell me what and when to do.
Listening to Obama rhetoric, it appears to me, that if he gets his way, he will not only tell us what cars to drive (or not to drive), when to turn on our air conditioners, but also what language am I allowed to use, while talking to my wife and children… Somehow, nightmares of living under communism are coming back to my life again.

Listen hicks, in MOST other countries the population speaks a number of different languages. YES, in switzerland they speak german, dutch, italian…in spain some parts speak portugease (sp)…in African countries then speak french, native tongue, and arabic. Etc..etc…etc.

  128. Derek….Spoken Chinese is one of the most varied languages in the world….many Chinese do not understand the language of other Chinese due to huge variations!

The standardized form of spoken Chinese is Standard Mandarin (Putonghua/Guoyu), based on the Beijing dialect. Standard Mandarin is the official language of the People's Republic of China and the Republic of China (Taiwan), as well as one of four official languages of Singapore. Chinese—de facto, Standard Mandarin—is one of the six official languages of the United Nations. Of the other varieties, Standard Cantonese is common and influential in Cantonese-speaking overseas communities, and remains one of the official languages of Hong Kong (together with English) and of Macau (together with Portuguese). Min Nan, part of the Min language group, is widely spoken in southern Fujian, in neighbouring Taiwan (where it is known as Taiwanese or Hoklo) and in Southeast Asia (where it dominates in Singapore and Malaysia and is known as Hokkien).

According to news reports in March 2007, 86 percent of people in the People's Republic of China speak a variant of spoken Chinese.[5] As a language family, the number of Chinese speakers is 1.136 billion. The same news report indicate 53 percent of the population, or 700 million speakers, can effectively communicate in Putonghua.

  130. To all those who think GWB's actions made the rest of the world hate the USA, I say: Where were you when Indonesian protesters burned US flags in the late 1990s?

And don't forget about the terrorist attacks against US military and civilian targets in the Middle East and elsewhere.

BHO claims that we can't drill our way out of the current oil crisis. I say to him and his supporters: You can't tax your way into prosperity.

And just to give you all an idea of where I am coming from, I did not always love this country. But all that changed after I came here back in 1990. I am an observant Muslim who strongly supports GWB and the War on Terror.

To world press in general, the template goes as follows: USSR/PRC/PLO/Communism/Socialism good, USA/Western countries/Israel/Capitalism bad. Democrats good, Republicans bad. So, if being "liked" by the rest of the world is to be our #1 priority, we might as well outlaw the Republican Party!

I am SICK and TIRED of people who want the rest of the world to look at us favorably. I am SICK and TIRED of the press here in the USA and around the world that make us out to be the bad guys at every turn. God has blessed this country many times over, and the rest of the world is a far better place to live in because God has blessed the USA. We owe the rest of the world nothing.

And to all those who wish to bring the USA down so that the rest of the world will like us, I salute you…with one finger.

  133. Rufus, actually Obama's point was the same as mine. His emphasize was on learning different languages, but his overall comment was about the limitations that we as Americans place on ourselves. Of course, foreigners who visit this country should know English. The point Obama was making, which let me remind you is a point that you just made yourself, is that we should invest as much time in learning other languages as foreigners invest in learning ours. How is that offense? You do realize that Sean Hannity spends countless hours going over footages of Obama's speeches to pick apart any little soundbite so you guys can hyperventilate about a comment as simple as the one we're discussing. You guys weren't going to vote for Obama anyway and are using any excuse to justify voting for a third Bush term while simultaneously complaining about Bush's policies and spending. Great idea….hey, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to talk to you about…..

Maybe Obama has point about our educational system. The inability for some to come to rational decisions seems to escape us continuously.

  134. There is nothing wrong with speaking another language as long as English is first in this country. That is common sense. However, as people have pointed out, Obama was pandering to the audience like he always does. He claims to be a "change" person, but he is a typical politician who tries to fool people. Like the saying goes, if he gets in office, all you'll have left is "change" in your pocket (after he raises taxes big time). He has fooled a lot of people, but I'm glad to see that there are many people on this post who see him for who he is.

  137. US Policies since the inception of the US have been brought upon the public by their elected officials that placed stipulations on every bill that has passed. Inherentally costing taxpayers money. Politics is mearly a name for barganing via legal means. It is corrupt and will always be because of human greed. Every decision made by Congress is scoured over by thousands of Lawyers trying to figure out whats in it for them. And we hear thousands of complaints from those who consider it not fair, almost nothing on those who it is fair too. Obama nor McCain is going to change this and neither campaign discusses the real issues (SS Retirement, Movement of jobs overseas, Increase of the cost of living, taxed to death, too many giveaways from the government). So now Presidents are decided via a popularity event on who is more personable (what kind of clothes they buy, what their wives look like, how they tell a joke). The MSM loves Obama and features him in a better spotlight on every oppertunity. They represent McCain as a dank, angry old man. Since this is a popularity contest, logic and common sense do not apply. The next American Idol President brought to you by the MSM.

    Banning many common semi-automatic firearms11 Anti-gun
Disallowing self-defense in towns where guns are banned12 Anti-gun
    Imposing one handgun a month restrictions13 Anti-gun
Requiring lock up your safety trigger locks14 Anti-gun
Protecting gun dealers from frivolous lawsuits15 Anti-gun
Outlawing gun confiscations during a national emergency16 Pro-gun
Squelching the free speech rights of gun owners17 Anti-gun
Restricting the interstate sales of firearms18 Anti-gun
Is it really any doubt that the change that Obama wants for America is one of socialism and big government. Obama has said and showed his opinion on personal defense. When talking about the Washington DC gun ban , Obama supports the gun ban in the nation's capital, saying the "DC handgun law is constitutional."4 And he is opposed to people using guns for self-defense, when those guns are owned in localities like Washington, DC and Chicago where firearms are banned. Mister Obama, The right to keep and bear arms is not unconstitutional. How does this view carryover into his views on national defense.
If an individual citizen has no right to defend him or herself, then what right has the federal government. I believe that when we are attacked again and Obama is president he will do nothing. He will discuss with the enemy and negotiate. He will look on it as being criminal and not an attack. To believe that a nation would attack us is beyond belief, they all just want us to capitulate. These rogue countries are tiny and cannot possibly harm us. Does the name Chamberlain ring a bell. The military I truly believe in Obama’s view is very detestable. Is Obama a beleiver in America, I believe he belives in America, but I feel his vision leaves very little room for the individual and rewards of personal initiative. His America would be unrecognizable.
Just sit back and we will give you energy, free health care , we will take care of you from the cradle to the grave. Let’s be like France, Germany, England, or even Spain. I believe that this is his vision of the way a future America would look like.I want to be an American! I want to stand proud and know that my country has pulled this world from the brink several times. When a disaster happens we are there! When a need is recognized we are there! When we are attacked we stand alone but that is Ok! We are Americans, rugged individualists who let nothing stand in their way. I believe that Obama is an opportunist, a socialist, and a so far left leaning individual as we have seen in the last 30 years.
If he is elected we will see the same affect as Jimmy Carter effect, we will have saved the polar bear, the arctic, we will have saved it all. But at what cost double digit unemployement, 6.00 to 10.00 a gallon gas? 15% to 20% interest rates. America must be made strong we are the worlds last best hope. We must stand and stand proud. I know Mccain is not that much better of a choice, I know he leans left more than a conservative would like. I believe that Mccain values America and sees the potential of what we have yet to become. I think Mccain could hold the line untill we find and bring up our next great president. I love America, I believe in the promise. The last time I looked I saw people massing to get in, not get out. So wake up people and smell the coffee. Common sense will win svery time when alowed to be used. Lets get to a common sense America. Where did that go…we miss you Ronnie , rest well sir, we will take it the rest of the way. God Bless the USA!

  155. Brooklyn Girl,

The rest of us did not have to grow up in Bensonhurst and be ashamed of our past. Anyone that believes that New York and New Jersey are the center of the universe, have no claim on Global thinking. Obama is not qualified as a mature bureaucrat to polish the floor of Congress. Anyone that is amazed by his rhetoric is merely naive or terribly simple minded. Sean Hannidy, Rush Limbaugh, and the right wing pundits do not speak FOR conservatives OR patriots….they DO make a GOOD living….and they probably don't need multiple language fluency to do so. Most of the right have independent minds, are pretty unemotional, and are quite capable of calling a fact a fact. Obama is LESS than a LIGHTWEIGHT. His candidacy is a fluke of the times, and is merely fueled by a liberal group of fanatics that can not see past their hatred of George Bush and Dick Cheney.

The present US adminstration did not start the problems we have today, and mostly they have not help solve a bunch of issues either. But given that we were attacked shortly after they got into office….I am sincerely grateful that neither Al Gore, Bill Clinton, or John Kerry were President at the time. My home has been safe, as has yours. Hatred won't help chose a viable Presidential candidate. And the President alone cannot make changes happen in this country. The biggest problem today is apathy and greed in the citizenry….together with a attitude of entitlement and superiority of the younger generations that show no real talent for running and managing either their own lives, or the businesses of American enterprise.

  158. FIRST, Teach the English language, and make certain students are well versed in it. Today, many that finish High School can not read, speak or write effectively in ENGLISH.
SECOND, Once they have mastered English, then certainly encourage learning a second language. However, why just Spanish? Is it because there is a large Latino voter base, and it is popular for politicians to stress Spanish? If we keep going the way we seem headed, Chinese might be more useful. If, as many here profess, we must become more global in our thinking and actions, then Spanish may not be the language that will best suit our needsin the future.
THIRD, (and most important) We are doing a dis-service to the Latino community by not making them more proficient in English. They need to better assimulate into the general population, if they are to find their real potential. I know someone who is a elementary school teacher, and much too often Latinos use their "Spanish heritage" as an excuse to not complete (or even attempt)assignments. If they are not completing assignments in grade school… how will they compete in the real world?

We are finding out just how bad blacks hate the whites (thanks to Obama's church and others) and this is not doing the country any good. They won't let go of a past that many of them weren't even a part of, and blaming most of us who had nothing to do with it.

Was it wrong for FDR to go to war against Germany, Japan and Italy in 1941? How many of our soldiers died after the victory in Europe?

The military may have our dress and appearance be uniform but we do not all think the same. Many military (especially some who have done 2, 3, or 5 tours overseas) believe that our foreign policy is left wanting and a continuation of what is going on will hurt us.

This country was founded by people from England but if you go down to New Orleans you'll hear Creole, which is left over from the time that the French owned the land. 4. Because McCain supported Bush's efforts to privatize Social Security

    5. Because McCain supports Bush's disastrous No Child Left Behind

    6. Because McCain's health care plan is the same as Bush's

    7. Because McCain flip-flopped to align himself with the Bush tax cuts

They way he just dismissed their learning englsih like no biggie they will learn it and then preaches to those of us here legally speaking english how we NEED to learn other languages. Guess what fool if I never plan to live in another country I have no need to learn another language. If you moved here learn English or go home, if I moved I would expect that I would have to learn the local language.

  171. What amazes me is how rabid the liberals get. It is almost to the point of insanity. They cannot even admit one shortcoming of Obama. It is a love fueled by their rabid hate for George Bush. They do not really care what he stands for. They only care that he is Black, and he is not Republican. Liberals make matter-of-fact statements and immediately fly into strings of insults if their point of view is challenged.

Even the liberals claiming to be "smart liberals" can't resist flinging snide remarks or insults. It is because liberals believe themselves to be elite (whether they're a barista at Starbucks or a self-loathing exec), better educated, and just plain better people than the rest of us. They think they know what is good for this country, that we do not know any better, and we should just shut up and not bother them with any kind of challenge. I mean, they have to take long sips of their Chai lattes after their rants, you know?

Obama is going to strip this country of its pride, power, and position. He and the liberals want to bring this country down. He will pander to other countries, and let them walk all over us.

He will tax the hell out of small business owners. He thinks these guys will accept the cut in pay as some sort of "do your part" socialist program. No. They will cut a position out of their payroll.

He will sell us down the river. He will pander to the Muslims. Our country will be destroyed.

  172. Obama is not a person I want as president. "My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it." Barack Obama
You don't see the danger here. It isn't about learning another language, it's about changing the culture of our country. He is Anti-American and wants to turn our country into Europe prior to the shift to conservatism. If you don't all wake up, you'll be living in a communistic state. He has never known struggle so he will never understand what it's like to be an ordinary American trying to feed their families. He's never held a private job so he's always been on the public dole. He doesn't pay for his own gas, he doesn't make rent payments and he eats on our dollar. Don't you ever wonder how these "public servants" turn into millionaires? They are beholding to lobbyists and any one else who wants to donate to their campaigns.
We need change from the top down and it doesn't include electing someone who looks down on America and Americans. Change I can believe in would be honesty, not pretending to be something you're not. Stop spending my tax dollars on earmarks to make themselves infamous like the bridge to nowhere which is a 200 million dollar project that would build a bridge out to an island that 48 people live on who have been using a ferry to go back and forth on for years and they don't even have cars! How ridiculous our government has become. They waste our money, give themselves raises, work two days a week and let's not forget, Barack is still getting his Senator's salary even though he's been campaigning for 2 1/2 years! Since the Dems took office we have seen gas prices double, their workweek dwindle and very little being done. He's part of that system and he isn't going to change anything but raise your taxes and make life harder on you. You have to see what he's done and he has nothing to his credit. Would you hire an employee with his resume to run your company? Hardly, because running on a fancy slogan isn't going to benefit America. He want's to talk to Iran who want's us dead and he wants to treat terrorists like criminals and not enemy combatants who want to kill us all. Yes, they even want you Peace guys dead as well. Unless you're a muslim, you're dead. Wake up and really investigate him. He is not what he seems and McCain is no better so no matter how it goes, it's gonna be bad.

There are places in the US where English is not, or is poorly spoken…and Louisiana cajon is a good example, as is Spanish in parts of New Mexico…heck there are places speaking Navajo too.

Just notice one big thing. Those that DO NOT SPEAK clear and acceptable ENGLISH remain part of the poor and "disenfranchised" as libs like to call those that are not well schooled and without job skills. Unless folks speak English {and that does not include Ghetto speak) they will never rise above the Welfare and Poverty level in a free and market driven society like America. Only if the govenment forces socialism onto the American Citizens….a goal of the far left….then only will those folks get some crumbs of the weath created by others that use skill and education to earn a living and prosper.

  177. BrooklynGirl, your reading into Obama's remarks illustrates your ignorance of what he truly said. Spanish, French, and other languages are typically offered at most middle and high schools and colleges across the fruited plains. He is not fluent in any other language. The messiah was speaking to a latino group hoping to woo them over to his side, he feels it necessary to chastise the country to make his point. That Americans are arrogant and ignorant. Why do the people of Europe have to speak several languages, look how big the continent is and how many languages. How would they get anything done if they could not deal with each other by speaking German, French, Spanish, Italian, Greek, Turkish and on and on…. We do not have to, we can go from Minnesota to Florida, and all communicate. Albeit the accents and dialects are all unique, not unlike in your part of the woods or Boston. It is good for people to broaden their horizons, travel to other countries, speak other languages. But we do not have to if we want to simply explore our country. This is called Freedom, you may not have been taught this in your public schools, but we here in the bad lands were. You need to broaden your horizons, travel this great land, take in the diverse peoples and be able to communicate with each and every one, except in Miami and several California cities where Mexican, Cuban or Hatian are fluent. Obama has been told by his preacher, friends and teachers that this country is filled with Bad people and all of them are Caucasian.

Your vitriol is unfortunate. After seeing bullet number 8 from you I must let go the "McCain is like Bush" debate..

The more tempting discussion is that you clearly are a Bush hater, without any discretion. That is disturbing.

Can you give Bush credit for things he has accomplished?

Like the fact that he inherited an economy in recession, took office as the Stock market was in a complete freefall, the 9/11 attacks obviously occurred. He held the economy up by cutting marginal taxes, dividend taxes and cap gains taxes. The left complained and our economy grew out of the problems Bush inherited with strong GDP growth and unemployment plummeted… hmmm… Can you admit this?

When Bush went to war in Iraq the left complained he should be going after N. Korea. They were the bigger threat, blah, blah… well Bush used diplomacy to dismantle N. Korea and their Nuke program. Are you willing to give him credit for that?

Your concerns about deficits and entitlement programs have more to do with Congress and previous administrations, not Bush.

Bush recognized Social Security is a terribly designed program that is killing our $3 trillion dollar budget by bleeding us slowly. At least he had courage to address the problem.. and by the way had you studied something other than Sociology or Communications during college then maybe you would understand his quasi-privatization plan was actually conceptually very solid. Imagine Americans actually "owning" the money they put into the system. What a novel concept!

Plus, jabbing our alleged inability to speak native languages of the countries we visit needlessly pours fuel on an unneeded fire - Europeans I met wanted to speak English more. Besides, what end was Obama seeking with this as he only speaks English?

The more spontaneously he talks, the clearer it becomes that his once eloquent primary speeches, and albeit vague vision of American, barely resembles the messages that he shares today. Apparently, his “Change you can believe in” slogan really means he’ll change whatever words and views he needs to win that particular audience. We've already been there and done that.

I sympathize you lost a family member in the war. But your family member was not drafted. They chose to serve our country and their bravery is not forgotten.

Bush has made mistakes and certainly has disappointed many… however

I challenge you or others to come up with a viable alternative to what Bush was faced with the Iraq situation. The official policy of our Nation was "regime change" in Iraq per Clinton. Iraq had categorically violated all of its agreements with the UN under the cease fire agreement at the end of the Persial Gulf war. Then Bush gets intelligence reports saying Saddam was ramping up his WMD program and still not letting in the oversight he agreed to do. So Bush goes to the UN and passes a resolution that says show us what you have or else we must take action.

Bush took very reasonable steps and he was right to do so. If he DID NOT act after seeing those intelligence reports and a dirty nuke from Iraq went off in Atlanta or Houston, history would judge him as the biggest idiot of all time. He really had little choice.

Now the execution of the war is up for debate, the strategy of post Saddam and so forth…. but let's not conflate the two and then say everything Bush does is terrible (like you're saying).

Obviously, there are quite a few Americans that do study foreign languages, and many immigrant Americans that speak multiple languages fluently. But the very great majority of Americans are not functionally multi-lingual. Compare this to many regions of the world.

I have traveled extensively — not only in Europe, but also in South and Central America and in Eastern Russia. And when I visit, I usually spend months, so I definitely have gotten to experience more than the surface that most tourists see. In addition, many of my closest friends live similar lifestyles and have lived in Asia, Africa and the South Pacific, so we share stories a lot.

The simple fact is that in many places in the world, most people are multilingual. Generally, in my experience, the locals know their own regional language/dialect and the "national" language/dialect, as well as the language/dialect of neighboring countries and trade partners. In addition, it is very common for people to educate themselves in languages that they recognize will give them an advantage — for instance, the languages of tourists that they hope to interact with to better themselves or the language of a country that they would like to go to school in. Actually, I have never encountered a place, even in remote parts of the Amazon, where nobody spoke at least a little English. For one thing, American travelers are infamous everywhere for not being able to speak the local language — and often, not even wanting to learn — so if they want to do business with Americans they need to know English. For another, English is a relatively common second language throughout the world, so it often functions as a "universal" language.

Americans do not think the same way about languages, on the whole. As I have said already, it is common for Americans to study some foreign language — most colleges require minimal credits in elementary-level foreign language, for instance — but it is relatively uncommon for Americans to master a second- or third-language.

Many people recognize the value in learning foreign languages. In my opinion, Obama's suggestion to encourage students to learn Spanish specifically makes absolute sense. Our two closest neighbors geographically are Canada and Mexico. We also have trade relations with both countries, and it makes sense to learn Spanish to be able to profit even more from our relationship with Mexico (and other Latino nations with which we share the hemisphere). Why have obstacles in our interaction with our southern neighbors that we do not have with our northern neighbor?

And, of course, there is the Latino immigrant population to consider. Many Spanish-speaking immigrants are legal. Many enter the country illegally. Regardless of your feelings about that, they are real and they make up a large contingent of the US population. Again, it makes sense for English-speaking Americans to learn their native language, just like they should be learning English-as-a-second-language, to best foster communication. Bettering communication can only have positive impacts on every aspect, from business relations to education to law enforcement.

  206. Brooklyn Girl post #200

You seem to have good intentions.

I realize very clearly the differnces btw Afghanistan and Iraq. My point was terrorists from all over have been "sent" and congregated in the Iraq struggle and that prevented them from being organized enough to be plotting things here. I do not believe it is a coincidence this has happened where there are no attacks domestically. This reason alone is not a good one to wage a war of course, but it has been a by-product. My point is you should admit that as truth.

Regarding tax cuts and financing wars… I find it amusing. The war costs less than $100 billion per year of our $3 trillion budget. Entitlement programs Medicare and Social Security are 45% of our $3 Trillion budget. Where is there more room to save money? Don't be naive. The war is actually a drop in the bucket of our spending. Basically insignificant. The entitlements are where the real problems are and Bush didn't cause those problems. We are back to the terrible congress we have had for years. Talentless fools who put us in this predicament.

And blaming Bush for gas prices is equally naive. Oil is expensive b/c demand from 2 billion people in India and China has risen dramatically. Supply is diminished b/c the congress/environmentalists have prevented Bush from Drilling or refining oil in this country. We aren't allowed to build nuclear plants here. Supply has been stunted by congress. So please direct your anger toward the right people.

  208. I have read all of these comments. Brooklyngirl sure can attach the Republicans. I guess Obama is perfect. Nothing negative about him. Then dissing a war hero because he got shot down in combat. Wow! John sure is a bad guy. Let's say his daddy did pull strings to get him in flight school etc. Its not like he pulled strings so he could sit his butt at home. John is a real man who went to war so you could sit on your computer and spew nonsense. The least you can do is thank him for that. Doesn't mean you got to vote for him. But saying your bs is just plain stupid. Shame on you. What exactly has Mr. O done to protect your freedom? He doesn't have the N*ts to even get into a fighter plane. Let alone while he is getting shot at.

By the way nice set up by the supposed plane problem and Jesse wanting to cut his nuts off. Jesse is too much of a BS artist to not know that that would be front page news. Free press for Poor ole Obama. Nice set up guys.

  211. We were attacked on 9/11 while we were minding our own business.

You guys on the Left have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA when you talk about the wars that we are currently fighting as being “wasteful” and “unnecessary”. The only reason I couldn’t join was that I only recently (<2 years ago) became a permanent US resident, before which I had once attempted to join the army and was refused because of my status in the USA.

If you want an idea with regard to what we’re up against, imagine (Ted Bundy + John Wayne Gacy + the KKK) multiplied by 1,000 (at least). And I KNOW there were links between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaida…anyone remember a group known as Ansar al-Islam? They were all over the news right up until 2003. What about Salman Pak? Anyone remember the parked Boeing 707 over there?

Supporters of the terrorists are already here in the USA, some of whom could be planning attacks from within already. There’s nothing wrong with being on our toes with regard to such individuals. There’s no placating them. Nothing less than the blood and flesh of those they consider to be “infidels” would be required to satisfy their bloodlust. They are the savages of the 21st century. They wreaked havoc in the country of my parents (Bangladesh) back in 1971 through mass murder and mass rape. They then claimed that it was all a lie, that they never did such things.

And they love to hear Americans bash GWB. It just gives them more fodder to feed to the masses out there. "See? Even the American people don’t like their own president and what he’s doing! Keep attacking them and they'll back down! Victory will be ours!"

  213. CoolBreeze – Frankly, I’m not a fan of McCain or Obama. However, as there’s no expectation that this nation’s energy needs will be fixed anytime soon through bipartisanship efforts, then I’m willing to place my bets on the Republicans – especially since Democrats have played a heavier hand in keeping this country dependant on foreign oil for far too long.

But getting back to my original post and your question, the more Obama speaks, the more concerned I get about the actions he will take. And, that includes his most recent stance on resolving this country’s energy needs.

But, hey, I expect that will change before November too, hence it was not my key reason for leaning Republican now. However, your comments have helped me lean even more to the Right, so thanks.

I don't expect Obama to become a dictator. But I would expect the USA to go down the road to disaster…the same one that Argentina took when it elected Juan Peron in 1940. Argentina went from being the breadbasket of South America (the standard of living there was higher than it was here in the USA at that time) to becoming a basket-case nation like any other on that failed continent.

  217. Marcia, in comment 173 — The "quote" you attribute to Obama is a hoax. He never said it. Do some research.

And, regarding the "bridge to nowhere" that you bring up — though that is a 100% Republican backed debacle — there is more to the "little island" than 48 people. That island is Gravina. On the other side of the proposed bridge is Revillagigedo. Revilla has a population approaching 15,000 and an annual tourist influx of nearly 1 million. The only airport is on Gravina, and the available land for development on Revilla is pretty much used up. There are many people who saw/see the "bridge to nowhere" as the best hope for economic growth in this part of Alaska because it would make Gravina accessible for housing, new businesses, more opportunities for tourism jobs. All things that a once-an-hour, daylight-hours only ferry that carries about 30 people and eight cars at a time just won't support. I do not personally support the bridge. I happen to live in the town linked with the "bridge to nowhere", and I prefer it small. But your understanding of the situation is grossly uneducated, so I could not resist responding even to such a dead and off-topic issue.

    You said:

"Oh I hate Bush with a burning passion. A passion that grows stronger everyday, every minute that I count the time I lost with my uncle".

I am sorry for your loss. However, don't you find it to be rather insane to blame the president personally for his death? Why not his commanding officer who ordered an advance? Or perhaps the person who assigned his quarters for the night? Or why not the person who detonated a roadside bomb, or fired the gun that killed him?

To blame the president directly is like blaming your mother for sending your father to buy milk and he gets killed in a car accident.

I'm sure you are a smart girl, and I am sure that you can make very good points. You know, if you were less vitriolic and didn't come across as though you were mentally unstable or as though you would throw your naked body in Obama's path, you could even win over some of us conservatives. :)

Please explain that without the word "change". His change is not specific. Unless it will refer to the remainder of my paycheck when he is done raising taxes and increasing spending on social programs. He hasn't even specified what those would be. He did seem to mention something about a "World Poverty" bill that would send 7/10 of 1% of our GDP to "impovershed" nations that probably hate our guts, but will gladly take our money.

Your uncle died a martyr. He fought and died while fighting against fanatics of one kind or another, whether it was Baathists or Al Qaida in Iraq. But remember: No one forced him to join the US Armed Forces. He joined on his own and served his country to the fullest. And when one joins up, it is with the expectation that (s)he could be sent out to fight and may not come back alive or in one piece. That's just the life of a soldier…it's not like the office job that I currently have, although I could die in an auto accident going to and from work. But it's definitely not the same.

Would you have felt the same way towards Clinton if your uncle had died while Clinton was president?

    Comment by Nabil Ahmad — July 10, 2008 @ 4:54 pm

  222. Ugh I hoped to stay out of this one but too much ignorance makes my head hurt. First I'm tired of this misunderstanding of so called "tax breaks to corporations" all this was, all the rule change was, is that all profits are taxed equally rather than taxing on multiple tiers based on profit margins or so called "windfalling". That was part of the Clinton tax increase in 93 and it was just rolled back. Plus Obama himself has offered tax cuts for companies pursuing alternative energy. Now who are the world's two largest alternative energy companies? BP and GE! The very evil corporations the liberals are always complaining about…usually while sitting in a Starbucks and talking on their iphones, ironic isn't it.

As for Guiliani I've always been a big fan of his and hate that his primary strategy was so crappy. I'm tired of Family Values Conservatives and think the government has no business trying to legislate morality and was really looking forward to a non-religious based Conservative. Now we have Socialism and European worship to look forward to. Yay rah.

As to all the banter regarding mandating public schools to teach languages other than English, I say first teach proper English. Why do I find more and more immigrants able to speak proper English better than most naturalized citizens? I don't know the answer.

And why Spanish? Why not math? I heard it's a universal language.

(Have other conservatives developed the same twitch I have the more Obama opens his mouth? You know, the one where he speaks and I immediately start clinching my wallet?)

  224. JB,

I agree with you. I work in a company where a lot of my colleagues are in Europe. They hate it. They are taxed to high heaven, and they don't feel as though they get what they pay for while using the social services offered by the government. The Canadians say the same thing about their socialized health care. I do not believe that we should have anything socialized. However, I do believe in price regulation in some areas, such as health care. But, with that you would also need tort reform. One of the reasons that the cost of health care is so expensive is because of the malpractice insurance doctors need to carry. Since just about everyone in Congress used to be lawyers, fat chance on any tort reform taking place that doesn't make the laws even more complex and with more loopholes.

We've become a nation of entitlement. We've become so litigious that we almost have to walk around eggshells around other people.

However immigrants need to learn the language of the country they have choosen to adopt if they are planning on staying. If you want to be an American learn to speak the english language and don't insist that we accomadte you by learning yours. If Americans were to move to another country for whatever reason I don't see the poeple of that country bending over fowards like we do here to make sure that our language needs are accomadated. Liberal Americans are so worried about everone fitting in and feeling warm and fuzzy that they have systematically kowtowed to the idea that we must accomodate the needs of the few at the expense of the majority.
Last I checked all the immigrants of the past had to learn english nad few if any accomodations were made for them outside of their ethnic neighborhoods. If you want to live in the United States learn English. Otherwise go home. And or those of you who will make ivory tower PC observation about how almost all of us are immigrants I say to you, you better start learning the various Native American languages, Lakota, Hopi, Navajo, Hawaiian etc. Otherwise you're a hypocrite and need to keep your mouth closed.

It is called leadership and it is something we have lacked for a long time. What we have had instead is the kind of leadership that looks the other way while the lack of regulation has allowed a subprime mortgage crisis that threatens the very foundation of our financial markets.

We have had the kind of leadership that irresponsibly creates a war that it can neither control nor pay for.

The kind of leadership that has allowed our once proud Dollar to slide all new lows againts the worlds major currencies.

The kind of leadership that calls for tax breaks for people earning in excess of $300K per year, while at the same time completely ignoring our current national debt while it climbs beyond 9.5 Trillion dollars.

Thanks for understanding :) I read almost every post afterwards, and notice how all you guys are arguing about who's better obama or mcsain. Instead of being like the talking heads on the television, spewing out bullshit to promote fear and division, and not talking about true facts how about people come together for a cause that started this country? Freedom. You can't have that with our current system. Federal Reserve(cental bank), welfare(taking money out of one's pocket for someone else's pocket), centralized government(federal 1 decision for all), income tax(profit tax to the bankers). These 4 things aren't american and both canadiates don't support it. There shouldn't even be a question on these topics or discussion might i add, if we just looked at the constitution of the united States of america. its quite funny how people are questioning others education and not there own. The main reason for all of europe's problems in the past century's, wars, corruption, recession, high taxes was all due to a cental bank. America fought against that for 137 years. Andrew Jackson abolished the first one, and got assasinated from it. I could go on forever. Instead of defending for the lesser of the two evils, how about you defend freedom first. We aren't even 100% sure that obama and mcsain are the nominee's yet. You people notice how newspapers and even MSM(mainstream media)always say presumtive nominee. Again, with education, even tho Clinton and Ron Paul suspended there campaign's they could still get nominated at the convention floor. Primaries are just a straw poll, and its the delegates that matter.

    Ron Paul Hope for America.

  240. *EXPLOIT THE IGNORANT*

If we are at a point in this country where a candidate like BHO can even be considered, let alone elected, as president of this country (soley because of clever public speaking devices) we're in deep kimchi. "Change" is generic and means something different to everyone. That's why it is a clever device…for fools. So…Obama will deliver every individuals perception of positive change. Wow. That's great. It's also monumentally naive.

How can such a large segment of our population be duped by this? "Change we can believe in." How can you support someone for "Change" when you don't understand that the "change" he is proposing is almost identical to the "change" Jimmy Carter proposed? Carter was elected in the aftermath of Watergate when people wanted "Change". He got Reagan elected when his supporters had a major revelation (early in his term) that he was a miserable faiulure. A brilliant man; a poor leader. His policies left us with double-digit inflation and a 21% prime interest rate. Yikes. History is doomed to repeat itself because liberals (in general) don't know history, political science, and current events in the context of the geopolitical chess game. If they would elect BHO, they would elect Mickey Mouse to deliver their Eutopian state. The media is reinforcing their invalid beliefs.

It is evident that Obama supporters have one thing in common; they don't know anything and believe what they want to hear. They believe they are the enlightened ones. I believe this is due to the fact that Academia has been commandeered by liberals. Many graduates emerging into the real world have been indoctrinated with the views of the likes of Ward Churchill and other imbeciles. It's a rude awakening when they get outside the liberal microcosm that is college and are thrown into the world where their bitter professors could not survive. If you're rich, you must be evil. Gimme, gimme, gimme. They hate the private sector; they are taught successful businesses are evil…Then they have to get a job. I've got news for them; poor people aren't hiring.

YOU HAVE TO KNOW THEIR LANGUAGE TO COMMUNICATE WITH THEM; you can't teach someone who speaks Spanish, English, by speaking English to them! No wonder he's bald, he's been telling so many lies that even his hair is leaving because of it.
