DAY'S END ROUNDUP

@ 7:31 pm by Andy Barr

Former White House adviser Karl Rove calling Barack Obama the guy at the country club making “snide comments about everyone who passes by” has bloggers calling Rove out of touch. The untimely death of the GOP-picked candidate to fill Rep. Vito Fossella’s (R-N.Y.) seat and Obama having to scrap a revamped presidential seal also have bloggers talking Monday.

Rove's comment has some ambiguous racial connotations, but is really off base on class, writes Matthew Yglesias. The blogger points out that unless you are wealthy and from the past, you probably are not familiar with the situation. Jake Tapper wonders what country club character Rove is in the scenario, finally landing on "the guy who vandalizes your car and blames it on the kitchen staff."

The death of former Wall Street executive Frank Powers has left the GOP scrambling to find a candidate to replace Fossella, writes TPM Election Central's Eric Kleefeld. Swing State Project's James L points out that several potential candidates have already declined filling in for Powers, including Fossella who said Powers' death hasn't changed his mind on retiring.

Obama ditching the seal shows his campaign finally got what others saw in it: arrogance, writes Hot Air's Allahpundit. RedState's Dan McLaughlin says the seal was "exceedingly presumptuous" and reinforced the cult of personality that has scared off some from Obama's campaign.
