MIDDAY ROUNDUP

@ 1:19 pm by Andy Barr

Michelle Obama is more popular than Cindy McCain, former White House adviser Karl Rove continues to play a legal game of chicken with the House Judiciary Committee and a battle between old and new media dominate the day’s conversation.

A new ABC News/Washington Post poll shows that Michelle Obama has a 9 percent edge on Cindy McCain in favorability, The Swamp reports. But even though Michelle Obama is seen as more favorable, Barack Obama still thinks John McCain should denounce attacks against her, writes Hot Air’s Allahpundit. And Talk Left’s Jeralyn wonders how Michelle Obama’s image will be affected by a planned makeover designed to make her softer and “less-lawyer like.”

The ongoing legal chess match between the House Judiciary Committee and Rove’s lawyers over his testimony makes the former White House adviser’s appearance seem less likely, writes Kargo X at Daily Kos. The blogger thinks Rove’s legal team will be able to run out the clock, waiting for the next administration to take power so that the committee will no longer have reason to force him to testify.

The Associated Press has announced a plan to start charging bloggers for excerpting portions of AP articles, and bloggers are in an uproar. Michelle Malkin points out the AP has repeatedly quoted her at length, attributing the comment only to a “blogger” and estimates the AP owes her a significant chunk of change by its own calculations.
