Both Obama And Clinton To Be In NYC Wednesday

@ 3:18 pm by Walter Alarkon

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama will both be in New York City Wednesday, one day after the last two primaries.

Clinton will be in Gotham starting Tuesday night, when she plans to give a speech after the results of the South Dakota and Montana contests, her campaign said. Obama, who plans to be in St. Paul, Minn., on Tuesday, will be in New York City on Wednesday for a Democratic National Committee event, his foreign policy adviser, Greg Craig, told MSNBC.

Craig did not say whether the two rivals would meet, adding that he didn't know many of the details of the DNC event.

"But it will be an effort by Sen. Obama to reach out and embrace all the elements of the party where he has been the strongest, as well as where he has not been the strongest," he said.

Responding to a question from Andrea Mitchell over whether the two would appear together, Craig said, "Well, theoretically, they're both physically going to be in New York."

"I don't know what their plans are. I don't know what the schedules for the campaigns are or for the candidates. But there they are in New York City on Wednesday."

UPDATE 5:20 p.m.: Both Obama and Clinton are still scheduled to give speeches before the American Israel Public Affairs Committee's conference in Washington on Wednesday morning, according to AIPAC spokesman Josh Block. Obama is scheduled for 10 a.m. while Clinton is scheduled for 10:25 a.m.

Here's the video of Craig:

  5. Why would Obama want to weaken his Presidential position by A) picking his rival opponent as his running mate, and B) picking as his running mate the person (i.e. Clinton) who embarrassed him a month ago by suggesting the he, the delegate leader, should be the VP under HER (who was well behind Obama in delegate count). Obama would be a fool to pick his opponent Clinton as his running mate. He would be the laughing stock of politics. Not only that, but Obama can do much better than Clinton as his VP.

  6. Meeting in NYC. Won't Happen. Clinton campaign is setting up media expectations for one; obama beware. there will not be a joint meeting and questions will linger for a few more weeks allowing the clintons to be in the spotlight even longer

  11. First the Hilster didn't hope for any assassination. If you listen to the speech rather than listen to Obama's spinsters it is quite obvious as to the point she was making.

Oh and by the way I am a conservative and will not be voting for either Hilary or Obama. I just hate the way media twists stuff to make something seem like something else. They need to report the news rather than spin it.

I do feel sorry for Hilary though. She is getting a taste of the liberal media that has fallen in love with Obama.

  14. There is no doubt, that Senator Clinton has ran and aggressive campaign and in some sense has made Senator Obama stronger. I say stronger because there nothing left for the Republicans to throw after the kitchen sink. She has done him a lot of good, made him more known to more Americans and positioned him to win should he be the nominee. Mccain is a weaker candidate than they would admit.

  16. Gloria, and all the rest of Hillary's feminist fanatic base: GROW UP! Comments like yours sound like the ravings of a spoiled petulant teenager stamping her foot when she doesn't get her way. Your candidate lost because she ran a lousy campaign AND because the MAJORITY of Americans don't want her (and Slick Willy) anywhere near the White House. Get used to it.

  20. Obama picks Ted Strickland not HRC or Richardson. She ungracefully calls a cease fire Wednesday but doesn't concede (afer all Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June as we were all reminded).

She plays shadow until the convention , demands and gets a prime time speaking op in Denver where she officially endorses Obama so as to set herself up for 2012 in the event that he loses to McCain. She then half or quarter heartedly campaigns for Obama but does her best to see that he doesn't win.

  22. I see this so often and I wonder why no one can get it right. Obama will be in Saint Paul on Tuesday night, not Minneapolis.
