DAY'S END ROUNDUP

@ 6:03 pm by Andy Barr

News that Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) has a malignant brain tumor prompted posts of encouragement and expressions of sadness from all over the blogosphere. Meanwhile, a battle between the Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton campaigns over sexism and last minute looks at Kentucky and Oregon also have bloggers talking.

More information, including a prognosis, will soon be coming out, but the initial news that Kennedy has a brain tumor is awful, writes Daily Kos’s MissLaura. The editors of RedState say their prayers are with the Kennedy family.  And Joe Klein says that Kennedy should find some hope in the no-hitter thrown by cancer survivor Jon Lester Monday for his beloved Boston Red Sox.

Whether the sexism charges levied by 1984 Democratic vice presidential pick Geraldine Ferraro are spin or the truth, there is a growing number of prominent women claiming they will not vote for Obama, writes Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey. But Mark Halperin points out there is an equally prominent group of women backing Obama as Sen. Claire McCaskill went on TV to blast Ferraro.

And with Kentucky and Oregon going to the polls tonight, bloggers map out what to watch for and how the delegate math will shake out. TalkLeft’s Jeralyn does the counting and makes clear that despite reports that Obama will likely cross an important pledged delegate barrier tonight, there will be “no victor” after the dust settles. Top of The Ticket meanwhile says it isn’t the delegates but the white vote to watch tonight.
