MIDDAY BLOG ROUNDUP

@ 1:05 pm by Chris Good

Barack Obama has miscalculated the changing world saying Iran “wouldn’t stand a chance” threatening the U.S., conservatives charge. Meanwhile liberals welcome a new anti-John McCain web ad as a means of exposing the Arizona Republican’s many alleged contradictions.

Barack Obama refused to face facts about America’s enemies when he said Iran is a much smaller threat to America than the Soviet Union was during the Cold War, Townhall.com’s Hugh Hewitt says. The Weekly Standard’s Dean Barnett suspects Obama noticed the attacks of September 11, 2001, in which a group smaller than Iran managed to pose a serious threat to U.S. citizens.

But the massive crowd Obama drew in Portland, Oregon over the weekend offers the Illinois Democrat some good news in the blogosphere: The Swamp’s Jim Tankersley says the 75,000 supporters Obama drew made him look like the party’s nominee.

McCain’s Straight Talk Express has been “thoroughly derailed,” claims Open Left’s Mike Lux, by a new web ad from Robert Greenwald of Brave New Films. Already, the video juxtaposing a series of conflicting statements by McCain has drawn 400,000 views in less than 24 hours, Lux notes. MyDD’s Todd Beeton wonders if the Arizona Republican is his own worst enemy on the campaign trail.

And House Republicans have no excuse for voting in favor of the spending-laden farm bill, The Corner’s Jonathan Adler charges. Adler says he will never vote for his own congressman, Rep. Steven LaTourette (R-Ohio) after he voted for the bill, which Adler says will increase farm spending by 44 percent.
